Hannah Dunn - September

Hannah Dunn has been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support since 2002, following the death of her grandmother to pancreatic cancer. She decided to fundraise for Macmillan to give something back to the nurses that had helped her gran through a difficult time. Hannah didn’t realise at the time but it was Marie Curie nurses that had nursed her gran, but despite this she decided that Macmillan was a recognisable charity that everyone seemed to know about, especially the Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning that takes place annually.

Hannah’s first coffee morning raised £36 and each year her event has got bigger and bigger, to the point that in 2008 Hannah had 3 large gazebos in her garden with many stall holders selling wonderful products and donating to the charity.

In November 2007 her husbands grandmother passed away from cancer and had help from Macmillan at home. It was following this time that Hannah thought she could raise a serious amount of money for Macmillan and came up with the idea to make the Yummy Mummy Macmillan 2010 Calendar. She approached a female photographer she knew, Karen Williams of Little Starrs Photography, and asked several of her friends to take part and in January 2009 the calendar was born. Months of preparation were needed to create this wonderful calendar and everyone really embraced the spirit of why they were taking part. “It was nerve-wracking getting our clothes off in front of each other but we were all there to support each other. People living with cancer have more embarrassment having to expose themselves to complete strangers for a diagnosis, we had to put that into perspective at each photo shoot”.
